ABOUT

Raised in a loving and supportive family, educated at St Paul's School, the University of Cambridge, and the Royal College of Music, mine is a story of success against entirely possible odds.

I've been very fortunate in the opportunities I've been given, and I've tried to make the most of them. That's taken me through the beginnings of a pretty varied career, but across all of the things I do - whether that's singing, teaching, dramaturgy or research - I'm curious about how we meet, and why it might matter.

I'm currently a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge, working on dramaturgies of encounter in the climate era. That research is generously supported by the Judith E. Wilson Fund at the Faculty of English. Publication-wise: my writing has appeared in CTR, Critical Stages/Scènes Critiques, Platform, and IJPADM, and I'm co-editing an upcoming issue of Platform with my friend and colleague Grace Joseph (CfP here!). This autumn I'm giving papers at TaPRA 2023 and the Climate Theatre Symposium at CUNY.

As a singer and coach, I've worked at the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne, and Opera North, and ruined Frank Skinner's evening at the launch of the V&A Opera exhibition. I've also loved my role in Waterperry Opera Festival's production of Jonathan Dove's Mansfield Park, which we'll be reviving this summer one last time. Before my singing career started, I left Cambridge with a Double First in English, before studying for a Graduate Diploma and a Masters in Performance at the RCM.

I love hearing from people through this site, and am always happy to talk about my work, so please - get in touch.
